The carousel at Central Place is supposed to celebrate the Virginia Festival of the Book and the coming of spring. On Friday morning at 34 degrees, that looks like a brisk proposition, but maybe it'll be warmer at noon when it's in operation until 6pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 22-24. The carousel is free, and you don't have to be a kid to ride.
The Downtown Business Association of Charlottesville and the city of Charlottesville are sponsors, and DBAC's Bob Stroh remembers the last time they brought a carousel in 2010 to kick off spring. It snowed. Could be déjà vu all over again, given Sunday's forecast.
